Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical treatment that is used to encourage skin and follicle recovery whilst treating wrinkles and increasing volume within the face. It is a natural treatment that uses the platelets from your own blood to stimulate your body’s ability to heal. PRP is the extraction of your blood by use of a centrifuge, which is then injected into your face to eliminate problematic areas.
Why you might choose PRP
PRP encourages healing and is therefore fantastic for scar reduction, dark under-eye circles, fine lines and wrinkles. PRP is a natural treatment and is used within the military for the treating of wounds, bone grafting and burn injuries. PRP is autologous, meaning it uses your own cells and therefore any adverse reactions are highly unlikely.
How PRP works
Treatment using PRP requires a small vial of blood to be taken from the individual in exactly the same manner as a routine blood test. The aspirated blood is spun in a centrifuge, separating the platelets from the waste products. These platelets have the ability to enhance and improve the healing ability within your skin and hair follicles. The platelets are injected into the treatment area using a fine, sterile needle, resulting in brighter, rejuvenated skin. Results are gradual, and a course of 4-6 treatments are required, 4 weeks apart.
How long PRP will last
To maintain the results of PRP therapy, maintenance appointments are necessary. How often will be advised by your practitioner.
