Are the signs of aging catching up with you? Pigmentation can be a common factor for ageing across a variety of skin types. It can often cause insecurities when shown on the face, body, or hands. Our medical grade pigmentation removal treatment provides a non-invasive solution, restoring your even complexion and youthful appearance once more.
Why you might choose Pigmentation Removal
Skin pigmentation can appear in multiple forms, from freckles and age spots to broken capillaries and angiomas. No matter where they appear on your face or body, our pigmentation removal treatment can be beneficial, providing safe and effective removal that is specific to your skin. Keep your skin clear, healthy, and radiant with an even skin tone, with our nurse-led pigmentation removal treatment.
Pre-treatment
To ensure your skin is safe for the treatment, there are a handful of steps you should take during the lead up to your appointment.
- 14 days prior – you should avoid all UV exposure, waxing, laser treatments, and fake tan lotions.
- 3 days prior – If possible, we would recommend avoiding any products containing retinol, hydroquinone, or glycolic acid.
How Pigmentation Removal works
Your qualified practitioner will cleanse the area before applying a cool gel. The skin rejuvenation treatment itself, whilst painless, can be described as uncomfortable.
To remove visible skin pigmentation such as scarring, age spots, and discolouration, our laser treatment targets the pigmented areas themselves without causing damage to surrounding tissue. The pigment within these areas absorbs the light before heating and breaking up. The heat from the laser will then draw the fragments to the surface, leaving surrounding skin cells unaffected. These fragments will then begin to flake or fade, leaving a smooth and even complexion behind.
Post-treatment
It is normal to find that your skin experiences discolouration immediately after the treatment due to our medical grade lasers. You may also find that your treated areas appear darker, lighter, or redder. This will settle within a day or two and should be left to heal naturally.
You should avoid exfoliating for up to 2 weeks and stick to a minimalistic skincare regime for the first few days. For up to a week after the treatment, we recommend that you stay out of direct sunlight, as well as heat, and use SPF50. This would include avoiding saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and showers and exercise that could trigger perspiration.
Further aftercare steps will be advised by your qualified practitioner on the day of your treatment.
How long will the effects of Pigmentation Removal last?
Post treatment, you should expect your treated pigmentation to fade within 4–6 weeks. Our pigmentation removal treatment works to eradicate existing areas permanently. However, a variety of natural factors could cause new hyperpigmentation to appear on the skin in the future, such as hormone imbalances, UV exposure, or aging. Our treatment will not prevent this.
